We are advised to make our own nitrate calibration samples, starting with a stock solution. But measuring weight and volume at home is pretty easy, so is it possible to make our own 1000 ppm standard instead of buying an expensive and perishable stock solution?

This guide SEEMS to be describing creating the same kind of solution as the Labtech standard we are advised to purchase, where 1 mL contains 1 mg nitrogen.
