      I had the Cheapstat software installed and running on my old computer. However, I recently migrated to a new computer and find that I cannot install the software. What is the trick?

        @MartinK You can download the software for the cheapstat from here http://web.chem.ucsb.edu/~kwp/cheapstat/. Would it be possible for you to give me a little information regarding the issues you are having with the software?

              @BEL A couple of things to try.

              1. Make sure you have the java runtime installed - you won't be able to run the .jar without java. Some instructions for doing this can be found here https://java.com/en/download/help/windows_manual_download.xml

              2. Make sure that .jar files are associated with the javaw.exe You should be able to right click on the .jar and go to open with -> java runtime environment.

              3. If you are on a 64bit of windows then you will need to update the rxtx library. The rxtx .dll's packaged in the cheapstat .zip are for 32bit systems. You can download the 64bit versions from here http://fizzed.com/oss/rxtx-for-java

                  @physics

                  Did you use the "-jar" option when running the .jar file e.g. "java -jar myfile.jar"
